There is no blueprint for the One Stop
Shop. Essentially, its role is to create a welcoming place,
which will provide a number of community facilities under
one roof. The specific make-up of the One Stop Shop will be
achieved through partnership with statutory and voluntary
bodies and following a community consultation to identify
local need and gaps in services and facilities. The
ethos of the work is to create a facility, which will be
self-supporting by ensuring long term funding and developing
the skills of those who will manage it. In this way it will
be responsive to change. A key element of the project is to
promote information technology. Loganlea
Miner’s Welfare
was selected in 2000 to become part of the project. It's
been a long hard process but the facility was up and running
in the Autumn of 2004.
